Neer Amudhu: Water – The Nectar of Life
Indian Classical Music Ensemble
Ancient literature in Tamil language beautifully portrays the importance and significance of rain and the conservation of water.
This unique music performance presents verses from Tamil poetry on Water – some of which written in Sangam era (300 BCE).
Lead by the award-winning carnatic musician Nivedita ShivRaj, the ensemble sings the poetry in melodious South Indian carnatic music. The ensemble includes the Indian music instruments veena and tabla.
Nivedita ShivRaj will also explain the poetry, the meanings and the historical backgrounds in English.
